CT4-7 Automobile & Truck Axle Casting Steel Parts
Axles are essential components of cars and trucks. Connected to the vehicle frame (or monocoque) through suspension, with wheels mounted at each end, their primary function is to transfer forces and torque in all directions between the frame and wheels, supporting the vehicle's normal operation.
Structural Features
Axles typically consist of components such as the axle housing, final drive, differential, and axle shafts. Trucks often use either integral or disconnecting axles. Integral axles are primarily used in medium- and heavy-duty trucks, while disconnecting axles are more common in light-duty vehicles.
Functional Differences
Steering: The front axle (usually the steering axle) is responsible for steering the vehicle.
Drive: The rear axle (mostly the drive axle) transmits power to the wheels via the final drive, achieving propulsion.
Load and Guide: Integral axles offer greater load-bearing capacity and are commonly used in trucks; disconnecting axles, due to their flexible structure, are more commonly used in light-duty vehicles such as sedans.
